Starbucks

Tom

Don't hold it against us, but we are the people behind your name being written on your coffee (often wrongly spelt). We were given the task of getting a huge faceless, global corporation to know the people again and visa versa. So we went about it in the same way as everybody has done for hundred of years - tell them to say hello and ask their name. The idea was introduced in a TV, online, print and experiential campaign. For the film we create a unique piece of animation, which was made by drawing on one cup then replacing it quickly with another. Throughout Starbucks stores we positioned artists to draw caricatures of the customers on their cup. So not only did they get their name on the cup but their face as well.

The campaign was a huge success. Unfortunately, what wasn't successful was the spelling of some of their baristas. Lindsay became Lin-Zee, Paul became Pawl, and Ian became Eiyon. Instead of hiding from it we decided to go with it, and ran a social campaign under the hashtag #starbucksspeltmynamewrong.
